Welcome to On Chocolate, a blog dedicated to seeking chocolate perfection.
I have been a long-time chocolate lover and began making my own chocolates last year. I'm a teacher, performer, and community organizer by trade. But I've definitely got a passion for chocolate.
I am starting this blog with a mission: Find. The. Best. Chocolate.
Since that's a pretty lofty goal, I plan to start off in "Sweet Home" Chicago, Illinois, USA. We'll see just how sweet it is here in my hometown.
Bring it on, you Windy City! Let's find the creamiest white chocolate, the most exotic artisan truffles, the most perfect and complex dark chocolate, the most comforting milk chocolate, and the best hot chocolate to warm up our freezing winters.
Let me know about your favorite hot chocolate spots in Chicagoland, and I'll be sure
to check them out!
My first stops:
-Vosges, Chicago's own high-end, woman-owned chocolate company known for exotic and unexpected flavors in chocolate like bacon and oyster mushroom.
-Teuscher Chocolate, a Swiss-based chocolate company with a location in Chicago
-Bon Bon, a mother-and-daughter chocolate shop in Andersonville famous for kama sutra-inspired confections
-Sarah's Candies, Martha Stewart-supported confectioner and baker with locations at Oak Street and Macy's
-Anna Shea Chocolates, beautiful artisan chocolates out of South Barrington
